Atorvastatin is used along with a proper diet to lower ‘bad’ cholesterol and fats (such as low density lipoproteins, triglycerides) and raise ‘good’ cholesterol (high density lipoproteins) in the blood. It works by reducing the amount of cholesterol made by the liver. Atorvastatin should be taken on prescription by a doctor.
