Melatonin is a natural hormone found in our bodies,that aids proper sleep and rest patterns. It can however be synthetically manufactured from the laboratory and given in cases of low melatonin hormone in the individual. The drug improves certain symptoms of jet lag such as alertness and movement coordination, and treats insomnia( failure to sleep).
